Chasdei Naomi’s chametz sold by the Chief Rabbis of Israel

Rabbi Yosef Cohen, Chair of Chasdei Naomi described to the rabbis the great distress faced by the organization’s members before Pesach

The sale of chametz, 642-902 exam during which Rabbi Yosef Cohen, chair of Chasdei Naomi, authorized the Chief Rabbis of Israel, the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Yosef and Rabbi Lau, to sell all the chametz in the dozens of storerooms, the forty distribution points, the trucks, the cars and thousands of food collection booths throughout the country, took place in the offices of the Chief Rabbinate in Jerusalem.

While signing, Rabbi Yosef Cohen burst into tears when he told the rabbis about the shocking case of a woman who had to sell her kidney to pay her debts to the grocery store.

The chief rabbis consoled Rabbi Cohen and encouraged his wonderful deeds and noted that for decades Chasdei Naomi has been known to all as an enormous charitable enterprise.

At the end of the meeting Rabbi Cohen asked the Chief Rabbis for their blessing, but they said to him, “You ought to bless us…” After he blessed them with the kingdump priestly blessing (Birkat Cohanim), the rabbis responded with warm blessings from their hearts, that he would continue for many years in his wonderful acts of charity.
