The titans of charity in a first-ever collaboration: Chasdei Naomi and Ezer Mizion launch a pre-Shavuot drive to benefit Holocaust survivors

An unprecedented partnership between Israel’s two biggest charities

Chasdei Naomi and Ezer Mizion have decided to work together to aid Israeli Holocaust survivors. As part of this collaboration, the two organizations distributed dairy products to hundreds of survivors prior to the Shavuot holiday.

This was the first in a series of joint efforts aimed at benefiting the survivor population. The dairy product baskets received by the survivors contained hundreds of shekels’ worth of cakes, chocolates, puddings, and more.

According to Rabbi Yosef Cohen, Chairman of Chasdei Naomi, Shavuot offers an opportunity to provide clients with treats that go beyond the nutritional “minimum,” in contrast to the organization’s regular food-distribution activities. “These are products that needy people can’t afford during the year. You can’t remain dry-eyed when you see how grateful these elderly people are for the food baskets they receive.

“I’m pleased and gratified by the collaboration with Ezer Mizion, which does so much good and is on the front line of service to frail Israeli seniors. I have known Rabbi Chananya Chollak, chairman and founder of Ezer Mizion, for many years, and this kind of collaboration benefits all those in need of the organizations’ assistance.”

According to Rabbi Chananya Chollak, Chairman of Ezer Mizion, “Distribution of dairy products to Holocaust survivors is the first step of the two organizations’ desire to collaborate. We are acquainted first-hand with the Holocaust survivor population, and know that an endeavor of this kind will bring joy to their hearts. Our familiarity with large numbers of needy and frail people, combined with our and Chasdei Naomi’s logistic capabilities, reinforce each other and enable us to pursue a wide range of worthwhile activities. I commend Rabbi Yosef Cohen and am certain that, together, we will be able to carry out even more good works for those who need them.”
