During his visit to Chasdei Naomi in Tel Aviv, the Ambassador of Taiwan to Israel was greatly moved to see families of volunteers who came together with their children to pack up thousands of schoolbags and school supplies for needy families prior to the start of the school year.

The Ambassador arrived together with the Secretary General of Degel HaTorah, Rabbi Yaakov Asher, and Adv. Harel Naveh, who is acquainted with representatives of the Taiwanese government. The Ambassador was given an explanation about Chasdei Naomi’s activities since its founding 30 years ago, and he expressed his admiration for the organization’s charitable work. The Ambassador was particularly moved because, he explained, he himself was raised in poverty and knows first-hand what this means.

“I am happy to present this donation on behalf of the Taiwanese government to such an important organization that works for Israel’s entire population.”

Rabbi Yaakov Asher thanked the Taiwanese Ambassador for his decision to make a donation this year to Chasdei Naomi, an organization that helps thousands of orphans and widows each year.

Rabbi Yosef Cohen, Chair of Chasdei Naomi, was extremely emotional as he thanked the Taiwanese government for its donation, which made it possible to distribute thousands of schoolbags and supplies for children from needy families.

“Before every holiday or start of the school year, when it seems that we will not be able to meet the demand, God manages in the most wondrous way to find the donation we need in order to make thousands of children smile.”

Rabbi Cohen continued: “Through you, I would like to extend my thanks to the Government of Taiwan and convey to them the thousands of appreciative thanks of these happy children.”

Rabbi Cohen also thanked Adv. Harel Naveh and Rabbi Yaakov Asher.
