Ensuring a Kosher Passover for Soldiers, and Holocaust Survivors

Chasdei Naomi Passover campaigns 2024

“It’s heartbreaking to think of the elderly having to forego the Passover traditions because they can’t afford the basics,” says Sarah Cohen, director of Chasdei Naomi.

As the Jewish holiday of Passover approaches, the non-profit organization Chasdei Naomi is spearheading two important initiatives to support IDF Solider and Holocaust Survivors through out Israel!

Supporting Soldiers and Holocaust Survivors

The first campaign focuses on providing kosher food packages for the holiday. Thousands of elderly people, including Holocaust survivors, struggle to afford the necessary supplies to celebrate Passover properly. Chasdei Naomi is calling on the public to donate towards these food packages, ensuring no one has to go without the traditional Passover foods.

“We’re hoping the community will come together to make sure these vulnerable members can celebrate with dignity.” -Continues Sarah Kohen

The second initiative is an unprecedented effort to host Seder nights in hotels for lone soldiers and Holocaust survivors. Many of these individuals face the holiday alone, with no family to share the Passover Seder. Chasdei Naomi is arranging for them to celebrate together in a warm, communal setting with all the Seder elements provided.

“Passover is a time for family and community, but sadly there are thousands who will be alone,” explains Cohen. “We want to bring these individuals together, to provide them not just with the religious observance, but the camaraderie and support they so desperately need.”

Both campaigns underscore Chasdei Naomi’s commitment to ensuring no one is left behind during the Passover season. Through the generosity of donors, the organization aims to restore the joy and meaning of the holiday for the elderly, Holocaust survivors, and other isolated members of the community. With their help, these vulnerable populations will be able to celebrate Passover with dignity, community, and celebration.

Thousands of elderly people, including Holocaust survivors, are struggling to afford the necessary supplies to observe the holiday traditions – a heartbreaking reality that Chasdei Naomi is determined to change through the power of community support.
