Sweet and Heartwarming Moments Ahead of Shavuot in Jerusalem
On Monday, four days before Shavuot, volunteers from Chasdei Naomi, accompanied by pastry chef Ayala, visited the Misgav for Seniors community center in Jerusalem to host a special festive event in honor of the holiday.
Around 60 elderly women and Holocaust survivors from across Jerusalem took part in the celebration, enjoying a warm, welcoming, and joyful atmosphere as they prepared for Shavuot. As part of the event, the participants joined the pastry chef in a festive baking workshop, where they worked together to create a beautiful cheesecake in honor of the holiday.
At Chasdei Naomi, they emphasize that throughout the year, the organization’s volunteers build meaningful personal relationships with the elderly women and Holocaust survivors they support. For this reason, it was especially important to organize this festive gathering in the days leading up to Shavuot. The organization provides ongoing assistance to seniors and Holocaust survivors, helping to ease loneliness while also supporting their everyday needs.
At the conclusion of the event, Chen, one of Chasdei Naomi’s volunteers, distributed generous dairy gift baskets filled with festive treats for Shavuot, including a variety of dairy products and holiday essentials, helping to bring the spirit and joy of the holiday to each participant.
The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers for their kindness, care, and dedication. Many shared that the event made them feel like part of a family and brought warmth, happiness, and light into their lives as they prepared to celebrate Shavuot.
